The Valdespino VOS Medium Oloroso Solera 1842 is a rich and complex Sherry from Jerez, Spain, crafted from Palomino with a small addition of Pedro Ximénez, and aged for over 20 years using the traditional solera system. This extended oxidative ageing gives the wine its depth, concentration and signature nutty character. The nose is intense and layered, showing aromas of dried figs, raisins and dates, with notes of caramel, toffee, roasted nuts and dark chocolate.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, smooth and slightly off-dry, with flavours of coffee, burnt sugar, walnuts and spice, leading to a long, elegant and richly textured finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A classic aged Oloroso for those who enjoy complex, nutty and slightly sweet styles. Perfect as an aperitif or with cheese, pâté or roasted nuts. Serve slightly chilled.
