Sullivans Cove French Oak Refill is a Tasmanian single malt whisky matured in French oak casks previously used for both Australian Tawny and an earlier batch of Sullivans Cove whisky. This second-fill maturation allows rich oak character to complement rather than overpower the distillery’s fruit-driven spirit.
The style is silky and layered, showing ripe and dried fruits, citrus and confectionery notes alongside vanilla, spice and gentle tannins. Individual single-cask releases vary, with French oak adding depth while allowing the malt and fruit character to remain prominent.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a distinctive choice for whisky drinkers who enjoy fruit-forward single malts with refined French oak complexity. Best enjoyed neat or with a small splash of water.
