The 2025 ChaLou Chardonnay, Orange is a beautifully refined cool-climate Chardonnay from ChaLou's high-altitude estate vineyard in Orange, New South Wales, sitting at around 900 metres above sea level. Crafted by Nadja Wallington and Steve Mobbs, the hand-picked fruit is whole-bunch pressed, naturally fermented with wild yeasts and matured in French oak on fine lees, producing a wine that balances purity, texture and mineral precision. The nose is elegant and expressive, revealing white peach, nectarine and lemon zest layered with flint, cashew and delicate citrus blossom.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a creamy texture, vibrant natural acidity and impressive mineral drive. Flavours of citrus, stone fruit and subtle roasted nuts are framed by beautifully integrated oak, leading to a long, focused finish with freshness and finesse. Elegant rather than opulent, it is a superb expression of Orange Chardonnay from one of Australia's most exciting boutique producers.
