The 2024 Patrick Sullivan Bull Swamp Chardonnay is a powerful, site-driven Gippsland Chardonnay from the Bull Swamp Vineyard near Warragul. Planted in 1982, the dry-grown P58 Chardonnay vines occupy a north-facing section of deep volcanic soils. The nose shows white blossom, apple and citrus alongside hazelnut, almond and subtle savoury notes.
On the palate, it is concentrated and textural with orchard fruit, citrus and a creamy nuttiness balanced by vibrant acidity and a long saline finish. The fruit was whole-cluster crushed and barrel fermented before full malolactic fermentation, then matured for 11 months in French oak barriques with 30% new oak.
