The 2024 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese is a beautifully precise Mosel Riesling from the steep, slate-rich Graacher Himmelreich vineyard. The 2024 shows tropical fruit, citrus peel and grapefruit, layered with green herbs and the vineyard’s distinctive wet-slate minerality. Despite its Spätlese richness, the wine remains remarkably elegant and light at just 7.5% alcohol.
On the palate, it is juicy yet crystalline, with gentle sweetness balanced by pronounced acidity and a persistent saline mineral character. Lemon zest and grapefruit provide freshness through the long, mouthwatering finish. The wine received 95 points from Vinous and 94 points from both Wine Advocate and James Suckling.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Riesling lovers who appreciate the balance of delicate sweetness, vibrant acidity and classic Mosel minerality. Beautiful young but capable of developing for decades, with Wine Advocate suggesting a drinking window through 2060. Ideal with spicy Thai dishes, pork belly, sashimi, grilled prawns or soft cheeses.
