The 2024 Domaines Schlumberger Riesling Grand Cru Kitterlé is a site-driven Alsace Riesling from the steep slopes above Guebwiller. Kitterlé’s poor, sandy volcanic-sandstone soils and sunny south, south-east and south-west exposures produce low yields and concentrated wines. The nose shows lemon and grapefruit with ripe orchard fruit, subtle herbs and a pronounced stony mineral character.
On the palate, it is dry and focused with vibrant acidity, concentrated citrus fruit and a firm mineral backbone. Saline and savoury notes add complexity, leading to a long, precise finish. Kitterlé rises from around 270 to 360 metres and is particularly known for producing structured Riesling with excellent longevity.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Riesling drinkers who enjoy serious, mineral-driven Alsace whites with bright acidity and strong ageing potential. Pair with grilled fish, oysters, seafood, roast pork, sushi or lightly spiced Asian dishes, and enjoy young or cellar for further development.
