The 2024 ChaLou 'Lou' SKINNY is a vibrant, skin-contact field blend from ChaLou Wines in the cool-climate Orange region of New South Wales. A co-ferment of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Arneis, the grapes spend around 143 days on skins before being pressed to stainless steel and bottled unfined and unfiltered, giving the wine its distinctive cloudy appearance and gentle tannic grip. The nose is bright and aromatic, offering pink grapefruit, orange peel and guava layered with candied ginger, citrus blossom and delicate floral notes.
On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with lively acidity, juicy citrus fruit and a refreshing, textural mouthfeel. Flavours of grapefruit, mandarin and tropical fruit are complemented by subtle skin-contact tannins and a saline mineral finish, creating an energetic and highly drinkable wine with plenty of personality. Fresh, vibrant and slightly wild, it is a brilliant modern Australian field blend.
