A vibrant cool-climate Grüner from Bryan Martin, sourced from high-altitude Tumbarumba vineyards and matured for two years on lees in Austrian Stockinger foudre. The wine combines alpine freshness with texture and savoury complexity in a distinctly Austrian-inspired style. The nose shows lime zest, green apple and white flowers alongside white pepper, almond blossom and fresh herbs. There’s a lifted spicy freshness and subtle savoury character that gives the wine excellent detail and energy.
On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with bright acidity, chalky minerality and gentle lees texture. Fresh and finely structured, with citrus, spice and a long dry finish carrying impressive tension and balance.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A beautifully modern Australian Grüner — crisp, textural and incredibly food friendly. More savoury and layered than Pinot Grigio, with excellent freshness and spice. Perfect with schnitzel, seafood, spicy Asian dishes or fresh goat’s cheese. Drink now or cellar through 2032+.
