The 2023 Greywacke Pinot Noir is a beautifully crafted Marlborough Pinot Noir from New Zealand, made by renowned winemaker Kevin Judd using fruit from the Southern Valleys, with a focus on the Yarrum Vineyard. Hand-harvested fruit was fermented with indigenous yeasts, including a portion of whole bunches, before maturing for 11 months in French oak barriques (30% new). The nose is expressive with aromas of black cherry, blackberry and bramble berries, complemented by notes of violet, woodsmoke, dried herbs and sweet baking spice.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and impressive depth. Flavours of wild cherry, tamarillo and grilled nectarine are layered with hints of forest floor, dark chocolate and earthy spice, leading to a long, refined and beautifully textured finish. The combination of concentrated fruit, restrained oak and elegant structure creates a Pinot Noir with immediate appeal and excellent ageing potential.
