Rather than owning a single estate, Greywacke partners with a network of exceptional independent growers across Marlborough's Southern Valleys, Wairau Valley, and Awatere Valley. The vineyards are planted on a mix of ancient alluvial gravels, clay-rich hillsides, and wind-blown loess soils, providing remarkable diversity for producing wines with both regional typicity and individual vineyard character. Marlborough's sunny days, cool nights, and maritime climate allow grapes to ripen slowly while retaining vibrant natural acidity and aromatic intensity.

Greywacke is best known for its iconic Sauvignon Blanc, alongside outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Wild Sauvignon. The classic Sauvignon Blanc displays vibrant aromas of passionfruit, citrus, blackcurrant leaf, fresh herbs, and tropical fruit balanced by crisp acidity and mineral freshness. Wild Sauvignon, fermented with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels, offers a more complex, textured interpretation of the variety. Pinot Noir showcases bright cherry, raspberry, violet, and spice with silky tannins, while Chardonnay delivers citrus, white peach, hazelnut, and flinty minerality supported by subtle French oak.

Kevin Judd's philosophy centres on capturing the individuality of each vineyard. Fruit is hand selected where appropriate, indigenous yeast fermentation is embraced for selected wines, and oak is used with restraint to enhance complexity without masking fruit purity. Careful vineyard management, gentle handling, and minimal intervention ensure every wine retains freshness, precision, and a strong sense of place.
