The 2023 Alkoomi Family Collection Shiraz is an estate-grown red from Frankland River in Western Australia’s Great Southern region. The nose shows mulberry, plum and black cherry with hints of fig, liquorice, violet and peppery spice. A small amount of Viognier is co-fermented with the Shiraz, adding aromatic lift.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with supple dark fruit, fine tannins and balanced freshness. Cherry and plum flavours meet dark chocolate and savoury spice, while 14 months in French oak adds depth and structure without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is rounded, dry and persistent.
