The 2022 Vasse Felix Sauvignon Blanc is a sophisticated and highly textural interpretation of Sauvignon Blanc from Margaret River, Western Australia. Rather than pursuing the overtly tropical, intensely aromatic style commonly associated with the variety, Vasse Felix approaches Sauvignon Blanc more like a serious white Bordeaux, using wild fermentation, skin contact and extended maturation in French oak to build complexity. The 2022 shows quince, citrus peel and dried lemon-lime alongside fennel, subtle florals, oatmeal and savoury mineral notes, creating a wine with considerably more depth and character than a conventional Australian Sauvignon Blanc.
