The 2022 Domaine Gérard Duplessis Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons is an outstanding Premier Cru Chardonnay from one of Chablis' benchmark left-bank vineyards. Sourced from four old-vine parcels averaging around 60 years of age, rooted in classic Kimmeridgian limestone soils, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing for 12 months in stainless steel and a further six months in French oak (10% new). The nose is refined and expressive, revealing yellow plum, lemon zest and orange pith layered with white flowers, oyster shell and striking chalky minerality. Awarded 92 points by Vinous, it is a superb expression of this renowned Premier Cru.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, beautiful concentration and exceptional saline freshness. Ripe citrus and orchard fruit are supported by fine mineral tension and subtle oak, leading to a long, elegant finish with remarkable precision and balance. Powerful yet beautifully poised, this is a classic Chablis Premier Cru with excellent ageing potential.
