The 2022 Blank Canvas Anandale Farm Riesling is a single-vineyard Riesling from the coastal Blind River sub-region of Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. Crafted by acclaimed winemaking duo Matt Thomson and Sophie Parker-Thomson MW, the wine comes from the Anandale Farm vineyard, a cool, windswept site known for producing Rieslings of exceptional purity, minerality and natural acidity. Made in an off-dry style inspired by German Kabinett Riesling, it beautifully balances fruit sweetness with precision and freshness.
The nose reveals lime zest, grapefruit, green apple and white flowers, alongside notes of honeysuckle and crushed stone. The palate is vibrant and energetic, with a gentle touch of sweetness balanced by racy acidity and a long mineral finish. Cameron Douglas MS awarded the wine 94 points, while Bob Campbell MW also scored it 94 points, praising its classic Marlborough Riesling character, sweet-sour tension and remarkable balance.
