The 2021 Prophet's Rock Cuvée Aux Antipodes Pinot Noir is a remarkable collaboration between Paul Pujol of Prophet's Rock and François Millet, the legendary former winemaker of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé in Burgundy. Sourced from the estate's organically farmed Home Vineyard in Bendigo, Central Otago, the wine is crafted using Burgundian techniques and matured for around 17 months in French oak. The nose is deeply perfumed, revealing wild cherry, raspberry and rose petals layered with wild thyme, forest floor, crushed rock and subtle spice, reflecting both the vineyard's schist soils and Millet's refined touch.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky, ultra-fine tannins, vibrant acidity and exceptional mineral precision. Pure red berry fruit is framed by savoury herbs, earthy complexity and a seamless, lingering finish that balances elegance with remarkable depth. Graceful and beautifully structured, this is one of New Zealand's finest Pinot Noirs, built to reward extended cellaring.
