The 2021 Murray Street Greenock Shiraz is a powerful yet beautifully controlled Barossa Valley Shiraz from the Greenock Estate on the Western Ridge, one of the Barossa's most distinctive areas for deeply flavoured Shiraz. The wine is a block and barrel selection from three separate sections of Murray Street's Greenock vineyard, which reaches elevations of around 305 metres and is characterised by ancient loam over red clay, rocky subsoils and significant ironstone deposits. These soils, together with Greenock's elevated position and cooler overnight temperatures, help produce Shiraz with intense black and blue fruit, firm structure and a characteristic savoury, ironstone character. Murray Street describes 2021 as a near-perfect season, producing a wine with considerable power and weight while retaining freshness and energy.
