The 2021 Domaine Sylvain Cathiard Chambolle-Musigny Les Clos de l’Orme is an elegant 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, combining floral perfume, precise fruit and finely textured tannins. Although the domaine is principally associated with Vosne-Romanée, this village-level Chambolle-Musigny from a named vineyard offers a distinctive expression of its winemaking. Now guided by Sébastien Cathiard, the estate has built on the reputation established by his father Sylvain. The vineyard contains a substantial proportion of old vines: published producer information records 85% planted in 1935 and 15% in 1992, providing a particularly interesting foundation for this small cuvée.
The 2021 offers red cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant and rose petal, with herbal tea, subtle spice and crushed-stone notes adding complexity. Its appeal lies in aromatic clarity and fine structure, with refreshing acidity carrying the fruit through a vibrant finish. Neal Martin awarded an early assessment of 91–93 Points, praising its balance, finely chiselled tannins and precision.
