The 2020 Pieve Santa Restituta Rennina Brunello di Montalcino is a magnificent single-vineyard 100% Sangiovese from Angelo Gaja's acclaimed Pieve Santa Restituta estate in Montalcino. Sourced from three historic vineyard parcels collectively known as Rennina, the wine is matured for 12 months in French oak barriques, followed by 12 months in large oak casks and extended bottle ageing. The nose is beautifully layered, revealing ripe black cherry, plum and wild strawberry intertwined with citrus peel, dried flowers, balsamic herbs and sweet spice. Awarded 96 points by James Suckling, 95 points by Wine Spectator, 94 points by Wine Advocate and 93 points by Decanter, it is one of the standout Brunellos of the vintage.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with silky, polished tannins, vibrant acidity and exceptional depth. Concentrated dark and red berry fruit is complemented by savoury earth, tobacco and mineral notes, leading to a long, harmonious finish with remarkable freshness and precision. Powerful yet graceful, this is a benchmark Brunello that beautifully balances richness with elegance and promises outstanding longevity.
