The 2020 Domaine Frédéric Leprince Volnay 1er Cru Carelle Sous la Chapelle is a beautifully refined Pinot Noir from one of Volnay’s historic Premier Cru vineyards. The nose reveals red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry alongside notes of violet, spice and subtle earthiness. The palate is silky and beautifully balanced, combining vibrant red fruit with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Hints of forest floor, crushed stone and gentle oak spice add complexity, while the finish is long, elegant and harmonious. The excellent 2020 vintage brings both concentration and finesse, making this a particularly attractive expression of Volnay.

A classic Premier Cru Volnay that showcases the grace and sophistication of great Burgundy. Perfumed, elegant and beautifully structured, it pairs wonderfully with duck, roast pork, game birds, mushroom dishes and veal. Enjoy with a short decant if drinking now, or cellar through 2038–2045 as it develops greater savoury complexity and nuance.
