The 2019 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is the estate’s flagship wine, produced only in exceptional vintages from meticulously selected Sangiovese grown in its oldest vineyards in Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Aged for up to 42 months in large Slavonian and French oak casks followed by extended bottle maturation, this limited-production Riserva showcases the extraordinary depth, elegance and longevity for which Uccelliera has become one of Montalcino’s benchmark producers.
The nose reveals aromas of black cherry, blackberry and dried rose layered with balsamic herbs, cedar, tobacco and sweet spice. The palate is rich and beautifully structured, with concentrated dark fruit supported by fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Notes of graphite, liquorice and earthy minerality unfold through a long, seamless finish that combines remarkable power with exceptional finesse and precision.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A world-class Brunello Riserva with outstanding depth and cellaring potential. Its richness and complexity make it a superb match for bistecca Fiorentina, slow-roasted lamb, wild boar ragù, truffle dishes and aged Pecorino. Enjoy from 2027 onwards with a generous decant, or cellar confidently through 2048+ as it develops extraordinary savoury complexity, elegance and refinement.
