2019 Monte Tondo Amarone della Valpolicella is a powerful and traditional expression of Amarone from Veneto, made primarily from Corvina and Rondinella grapes using the appassimento method (partially dried grapes) . The nose is intense and layered, showing dried cherry, plum and raisin, alongside dried flowers, sweet spice and subtle tobacco notes. It has that classic Amarone aromatic signature - rich, slightly oxidative, and deeply complex.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is exactly the kind of wine we position as a "classic Amarone experience" - rich, bold and indulgent. It’s perfect for customers who enjoy full-bodied reds like Barossa Shiraz or rich Cabernet, but want something more Italian and savoury. This is a great winter / dinner wine, ideal with braised beef, lamb, game or aged cheeses, and also works as a contemplative wine on its own. A strong gift or special occasion bottle, drinking well now but with the ability to evolve over the next 10–15 years.
