The 2017 Greywacke Archive Pinot Noir is a beautifully matured Marlborough Pinot Noir from New Zealand, crafted by renowned winemaker Kevin Judd using fruit from the Southern Valleys, principally the Yarrum Vineyard. Hand-harvested fruit was fermented with indigenous yeasts, including a portion of whole bunches, before maturing for 16 months in French oak barriques (30% new) and receiving extended bottle ageing as an Archive Release. The nose is intensely aromatic with blackberry, blueberry and ripe black plum, complemented by notes of lavender, rose petal, roasted chestnut, dark tobacco and sweet spice.

On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and exceptional depth. Flavours of black cherry, red berries and dark plum are layered with hints of forest floor, cedar, smoky spice and earthy complexity, leading to a long, refined and beautifully balanced finish. Extended bottle maturation has added savoury nuance while preserving the wine's vibrant fruit and elegant structure, making it a superb example of aged Marlborough Pinot Noir.

Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding choice for lovers of mature New Zealand Pinot Noir with exceptional complexity and finesse. Pair it with roast duck, venison, mushroom risotto or herb-crusted lamb. Enjoy now to appreciate its beautifully developed character, or cellar for another 3–5 years if well stored.
