The 2017 Benjamin Leroux Puligny-Montrachet is a beautifully mature 100% Chardonnay from Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, produced by one of the most respected winemakers of his generation. Benjamin Leroux established his own label in 2007, after gaining considerable recognition as the young régisseur of Domaine Comte Armand, and his wines have become known for their precision, restrained oak and strong emphasis on vineyard character. Importantly, the composition of the 2017 Puligny changed from earlier vintages: there was no longer any fruit from the higher-altitude Les Trézins parcel, so the wine was sourced entirely from Puligny's lower slopes. Jasper Morris MW noted its particularly pure, crystalline character and excellent persistence, awarding the wine 90 Points.
