The 2024 Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Blanc is an impressive regional Chardonnay sourced entirely from the Côte d’Or, predominantly from Leroux’s estate vineyards around Meursault, including Les Millerands, Sous la Velle and Les Belles Côtes. It offers inviting aromas of quince, ripe apple and pineapple, complemented by citrus, apple blossom, sea spray and subtle mineral notes.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied, generous and persistent, with ripe orchard fruit and orange-pith flavours balanced by fresh acidity. Ageing across large oak vessels, seasoned barrels and glass WineGlobes adds texture without introducing excessive oak character. The finish is poised and gently saline, displaying considerably more depth than expected from a regional Bourgogne Blanc.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent introduction to Benjamin Leroux’s white wines, offering Meursault-grown fruit and meticulous winemaking at the Bourgogne level. It can be enjoyed now after brief aeration but should show its best from 2027 to 2029. Ideal with roast chicken, grilled fish, scallops, creamy pasta, mushroom risotto or soft cheeses.
