2012 Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande is a classic Left Bank Bordeaux from Saint-Estèphe, produced by the same team behind Chateau Montrose. The blend is typically Merlot-led with Cabernet Sauvignon and smaller portions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, giving it a slightly softer profile compared to more Cabernet-dominant neighbours.
The nose is expressive and evolving, showing blackcurrant, plum and dark cherry, layered with tobacco, cedar, spice and subtle earthy notes. With some age, tertiary aromas of leather, forest floor and balsamic complexity begin to emerge, adding depth and classic Bordeaux character.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a structured yet approachable texture. Dark fruit, savoury herbs and spice are supported by firm but increasingly integrated tannins, leading to a long, balanced and slightly earthy finish. The 2012 vintage shows a more classic, restrained style - less power, more drinkability - and is now entering a very good drinking window.
