The 2009 Château Montrose is a monumental Second Growth from Saint-Estèphe and one of the standout Bordeaux wines of this exceptional vintage. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, it offers intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry, layered with violet, graphite, cedar, liquorice, dark chocolate, tobacco and fresh mint.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, powerful and deeply concentrated, with dense dark fruit, vibrant acidity and formidable yet finely sculpted tannins. Cassis, anise, earth and crushed-stone notes unfold gradually, leading to an exceptionally long and precise finish. Despite its richness and scale, the wine retains remarkable balance and classical Saint-Estèphe structure.

At Wine More Cellars, this is a legendary Montrose and an outstanding choice for serious Bordeaux collectors. It is beginning to enter its drinking window but remains youthful, with the potential to evolve through 2065. Stand the bottle upright before serving and decant for at least three hours. Ideal with dry-aged beef, roast lamb, venison, braised short ribs, truffle dishes or mature hard cheeses.
