The 2025 Domaine du Pré Semelé Sancerre Blanc is a refined Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc from the slopes around Maimbray, just north of Sancerre. The estate’s vineyards combine Kimmeridgian clay-limestone and stony Portlandian limestone soils, bringing both richness and finesse. The nose shows lime, grapefruit and green apple with white flowers, ripe yellow fruit and a subtle smoky mineral character.
On the palate, it is crisp and finely textured with vibrant acidity, ripe citrus and orchard fruit supported by a pronounced mineral backbone. The 2025 is aged for around ten months on its lees, adding depth and gentle roundness while retaining Sauvignon Blanc’s freshness and precision. The finish is long, dry and mineral-driven with lingering citrus notes.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Sancerre drinkers who enjoy classic Sauvignon Blanc with citrus freshness, mineral depth and a little extra texture. Enjoy young and chilled or allow a few years for further development. Pair with oysters, grilled fish, prawns, Crottin de Chavignol, fresh salads or white meats.
