The 2024 Roc Breïa Mâcon-Villages is a beautifully vibrant and intensely mineral Chardonnay from the ambitious Mâconnais project of Théo Dancer, son of the celebrated Vincent Dancer. Produced from organically farmed old vines in Bray — one of the coolest and highest-altitude sectors of the Mâconnais — the wine reflects a meticulous low-intervention philosophy focused on regenerative farming, freshness and terroir transparency. The Chardonnay comes from vines planted between the 1940s and 1970s on limestone and grey marl soils, with whole-bunch pressing followed by fermentation in used large-format barrels and bottling with minimal sulphur and no filtration.
The nose reveals preserved lemon, green apple and ripe pear layered alongside white flowers, crushed stone and subtle smoky mineral notes, giving the wine remarkable lift and clarity. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with vibrant natural acidity, silky texture and a tightly focused mineral core. Layers of citrus peel, nectarine and delicate lees complexity are balanced by saline freshness and deep chalky tension, finishing long, dry and beautifully persistent with exceptional precision and energy. The difficult but low-yielding 2024 vintage produced wines of impressive concentration and crystalline freshness, with Théo Dancer comparing the vintage’s style and vibrancy to 2021.
