The 2022 Thibaud Boudignon Savennières Clos de la Hutte is an exceptional single-vineyard Chenin Blanc from Savennières in the Loire Valley, and one of the flagship wines of Thibaud Boudignon. Clos de la Hutte is a high-density vineyard in La Possonnière, planted in 2011 from massal selections on exceptionally shallow soils where solid schist lies either directly at the surface or beneath only around 15–30cm of clay and sand. This combination of schist, clay and sand gives the wine both concentration and an extraordinary sense of precision. Boudignon has rapidly established himself among the leading producers of dry Chenin Blanc in the Loire, and Clos de la Hutte represents one of his most ambitious expressions of Savennières terroir.
The 2022 was hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts without malolactic fermentation, and matured primarily in larger-format oak, with only a small proportion of new wood. The warm, early 2022 vintage gives the wine generosity and texture, but the underlying schist terroir and preserved acidity keep everything remarkably energetic. Aromatically, it reveals citrus, pear, quince and white stone fruit alongside white flowers, subtle spice and flinty mineral notes. The palate is seamless and beautifully textured, with impressive concentration but no heaviness, finishing with intense salinity, briny minerality and citrus freshness.
