THIBAUD BOUDIGNON
Thibaud Boudignon is a highly regarded young winemaker and domaine owner in the Loire Valley of France, particularly known for his expressive dry Chenin Blancs from Anjou and Savennières.
Originally from Bordeaux, Boudignon worked in prestigious wine regions including Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Loire, gaining experience at estates such as Château Olivier and with Philippe Charlopin in Gevrey-Chambertin before establishing his own project. In 2008 he bought land in Anjou and Savennières, and by 2009 he had begun making wine under his own name from a small holding — initially around 3.5 ha of vines — focusing on the purity of fruit and vineyard health.
Boudignon farms organically and biodynamically, visiting every vine by hand and maintaining low yields to maximise concentration and terroir expression. His estate has expanded to roughly 7 ha across prime sites, including historic parcels such as Clos de la Hutte, Clos de Frémine and La Vigne Cendrée in the tiny appellation of Savennières. Many of his parcels were replanted with selected vines chosen for quality, and his production remains very limited, making the wines highly sought after.
The wines of Thibaud Boudignon are often described as pure, mineral-driven and energetic, combining precision with expressive fruit — especially his Chenin Blancs, which regularly attract acclaim from critics and sommeliers. Some cuvées are so highly regarded they’ve been featured on the lists of Michelin-starred restaurants. He also produces a rosé from Cabernet Franc and Grolleau. Due to the small scale of his production, his wines are quite difficult to obtain.
