The 2022 Armand Heitz Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Poutures is a distinctive Premier Cru Pinot Noir from a 0.66-hectare monopole owned entirely by Armand Heitz. Situated on the southern side of Pommard, below the celebrated Rugiens vineyards, Clos des Poutures has vines planted between 1964 and 1999 on clay- and silt-rich soils with good drainage. It is one of the most personal wines in the Armand Heitz portfolio: Heitz has worked this terroir since his first vintage in 2013 and describes it as the complete opposite of the traditional stereotype of Pommard. Rather than pursuing dark colour, muscular extraction and rustic tannins, he deliberately preserves the vineyard's natural elegance, finesse and lighter colour, calling Clos des Poutures one of his favourite wines.
