The 2022 Silent Way Shiraz Malbec is a beautifully expressive cool-climate red blend from the Macedon Ranges, crafted by highly regarded winemaker Matt Harrop from mature vines at Glenhope, 550 metres above sea level. Inspired by the legendary Wendouree Cabernet Malbec blends, Harrop combines 76% Shiraz with 24% Malbec, fermenting and ageing the wine with minimal intervention and no new oak to preserve purity, freshness and site expression. The result is a vibrant yet serious red that balances power, perfume and finesse with classic central Victorian character.
The nose reveals cracked pepper, red fruits and pomegranate layered with cassis, ripe cherry and subtle earthy spice. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with juicy blackcurrant, dark berries and vibrant red fruit supported by fine silky tannins and bright acidity. Layers of blackberry, plum and savoury spice unfold with freshness and balance, while a gentle leafy edge adds complexity and structure. The finish is long, supple and beautifully composed, delivering both richness and elegance with impressive drinkability.
