The 2018 Indigo “ecret Village Shiraz is a refined Beechworth Shiraz that highlights the elegance and savoury complexity of cool-climate Victorian winemaking. Produced from selected small-batch parcels and matured carefully in oak, the wine reflects Beechworth’s combination of warm days, cool nights and granite-based soils, delivering both concentration and freshness.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity, delivering flavours of blackberry, dark plum and black cherry layered with black pepper, star anise, earth and subtle savoury spice. Bottle age has added further complexity and texture, with integrated oak and developed earthy characters leading to a long, structured and polished finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent Shiraz for customers who enjoy savoury, cool-climate reds with maturity, structure and layered complexity rather than overly heavy styles. The additional bottle age has softened the tannins while adding depth and character. Drinking beautifully now and capable of holding further over the next 3–5 years. Ideal with grilled ribeye, slow-cooked lamb, roast beef, mushroom dishes or aged hard cheeses.
