The 2017 Paolo Scavino Barolo Cannubi DOCG is a prestigious single-vineyard Nebbiolo from the legendary Cannubi cru, one of Barolo’s most historic and sought-after sites. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo, it reflects Scavino’s refined, modern style while expressing the elegance and aromatic complexity of Cannubi, even in a warmer vintage. The nose is open and expressive, showing ripe red cherry, plum and rose petals, layered with notes of spice, liquorice, tobacco and a hint of earth.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with polished tannins and balanced acidity, delivering ripe red fruit, savoury depth and well-integrated oak. The finish is long, smooth and harmonious, with a more approachable structure compared to more powerful crus.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great introduction to Cannubi, offering both pedigree and accessibility. It’s drinking well now with decanting and will continue to evolve over the next 8–12 years. Perfect with roasted meats, pasta with ragù or aged cheeses.
