The 2022 Domaine Sylvain Cathiard Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Les Dames Huguettes is a finely structured 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy’s Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, offering an accessible introduction to one of the region’s most sought-after domaines. Under Sébastien Cathiard, the estate expanded its vineyard holdings in 2019, introducing this cuvée alongside other new wines from the Hautes-Côtes. Les Dames Huguettes lies on a slope with thin, stony soils rich in limestone, with vines planted between 1970 and 1995. That setting contributes to a particularly fresh, focused expression, bringing together ripe fruit, floral fragrance and a distinctive mineral character.
The 2022 offers plum, red and black berries, floral notes and a subtle touch of anise, supported by firm tannins and refreshing acidity. Neal Martin awarded an early assessment of 90–92 Points, highlighting its aromatic clarity, vineyard expression and savoury finish. William Kelley awarded 89 Points, describing a taut, incisive wine and identifying it as the tangiest of Cathiard’s three Hautes-Côtes bottlings because of its stonier soils. Allen Meadows awarded 87–89 Points, praising its precise flavours, mineral definition and persistent finish. This is a regional Burgundy with appealing fruit and enough structure to reward further development.
