DOMAINE METRAT ET FILS

Domaine Métrat et Fils is a family-run wine estate located in the Fleurie appellation of Beaujolais, France, with a winemaking history in the region stretching back several generations. The domaine is based in the highly regarded La Roilette lieu-dit in Fleurie, a terroir known for producing expressive and finely perfumed Beaujolais wines.

The estate is run by Bernard Métrat and his family, whose vines have been cultivated in Fleurie since the late 19th century. Bernard took over the operation in 1999 and continues to combine traditional viticulture with thoughtful modern practices. The domaine farms roughly 9 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted to Gamay for red wines, and practices hand harvesting and sustainable vineyard management certified under Terra Vitis (a reasoned agriculture approach).

Wines from Domaine Métrat et Fils include Cru Beaujolais bottlings such as Fleurie “La Roilette” and Fleurie Vieilles Vignes, as well as cuvées from Chiroubles, Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent, reflecting the diversity of Beaujolais terroirs they cultivate. The wines are generally vinified with natural yeasts and gentle extraction to showcase bright red fruit, floral aromatics and a classic Gamay character. Their Fleurie wines, especially from old vines in La Roilette, are often highlighted for depth, perfume and ageing potential compared to typical Beaujolais.

Domaine Métrat et Fils has also received recognition in wine guides and competitions, with selections and awards noted in publications like Guide Hachette, Revue des Vins de France and Guide Gilbert & Gaillard, reflecting consistent quality and craftsmanship in their wines.
