The 2023 Andre Perret Saint-Joseph Blanc is a classic Northern Rhône blend of Marsanne and Roussanne grown on steep granite terraces around Chavanay. André Perret, one of the region’s most respected producers, ferments the wine equally between stainless steel and oak barrels before ageing for 12 months, creating a style that balances richness, freshness and terroir expression.
The nose shows pear, white peach, honey and white flowers, with subtle notes of citrus and spice. The palate is textured and generous, combining ripe orchard fruit with vibrant acidity and a fine mineral edge from the granite soils. Fresh yet layered, it finishes long and balanced, showcasing the elegance and drinkability that define great Saint-Joseph Blanc.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb introduction to the white wines of the Northern Rhône and an excellent alternative to richer Chardonnay styles. Textural, aromatic and highly food-friendly, it pairs beautifully with scallops, grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes and soft cheeses. Enjoy now or cellar through 2030–2033 as it develops additional complexity.
