2023 Cascina Penna-Currado Barbera d’Alba Carrà comes from the hills of Monforte d’Alba in Piedmont and is produced by Cascina Penna‑Currado, the boutique project of legendary winemaker Luca Currado and Elena Penna. This wine is made from 100% Barbera sourced from old-vine parcels planted in 1965 and 2000 in the San Sebastiano area, where altitude and Alpine influence allow slow ripening and excellent concentration.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, Barbera from the Langhe is one of our favourite Italian reds to recommend for customers who want a vibrant, food-friendly alternative to Nebbiolo. The 2023 Cascina Penna-Currado Carrà is a fantastic modern Barbera — concentrated yet lively, with beautiful fruit purity and structure. It pairs wonderfully with pasta with ragù, grilled meats, pizza or aged cheeses, and is a great introduction to the wines of Piedmont.
