The 2024 Patrick Sullivan Woori Yallock Chardonnay is a site-driven Yarra Valley Chardonnay from the renowned Lusatia Park Vineyard in the Upper Yarra. Planted in 1985 on a north-facing slope at around 230 metres, the vineyard’s red basalt soils contribute distinctive mineral character and length. The nose shows candied lime, grapefruit and white nectarine alongside floral notes, brioche, flint and subtle spice.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet precise, with bright acidity balancing creamy orchard fruit, citrus and a savoury saline character. The hand-harvested fruit was whole-cluster crushed before fermentation in French oak barriques, with 30% new oak, followed by full malolactic fermentation, lees stirring and 11 months maturation in barrel.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Chardonnay drinkers who enjoy refined, mineral-driven Yarra Valley whites with citrus freshness, savoury complexity and finely integrated oak. Enjoy now or cellar for further development. Ideal with grilled fish, scallops, roast chicken, pork, creamy pasta or mushroom dishes.
