The 2022 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Chaignots is a refined Premier Cru Pinot Noir from one of the more elegant vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Les Chaignots lies on the northern side of the appellation, towards Vosne-Romanée, and typically produces a more perfumed and supple expression of Nuits than the powerful vineyards further south. Domaine Henri Gouges works a parcel of less than 0.5 hectare with vines over 30 years old, and the 2022 yielded approximately 35 hl/ha. The warm, generous 2022 vintage produced beautifully ripe fruit, while Les Chaignots retained the perfume and mineral freshness that distinguish this site.
The wine shows redcurrant, wild strawberry and darker red berries alongside floral notes, brown spice and subtle savoury complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with generous, juicy fruit, silky tannins and a fresh mineral finish. Only around 15% new oak was used, allowing the vineyard character to remain at the forefront. Jasper Morris MW awarded 93 Points, describing its combination of robust structure, generous fruit, silky tannins and mineral freshness, with a drinking window of 2030–2038.
