The 2017 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac 6L is an impressive Imperial containing the equivalent of eight standard bottles, blending 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Classified as a Second Growth in 1855, Pichon Comtesse is celebrated for combining Pauillac’s structure with floral perfume and refined texture. Produced under Nicolas Glumineau, the 2017 was aged for 18 months in oak, including 60% new barrels. Its Cabernet-led composition brings definition and ageing potential, while this substantial format makes it a striking centrepiece for a special gathering or a long-term cellar.
Expect blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry, layered with roses, lavender, cedar, black tea and subtle anise spice. The palate is finely structured and energetic, with polished tannins, fresh acidity and a persistent finish. Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW awarded the wine 96 Points for The Wine Advocate in March 2020, highlighting its floral character, tension and elegant fruit. She reaffirmed that quality with 96 Points for The Wine Independent in December 2022, praising its finesse, freshness and length.
