ALAIN GRAILLOT
Domaine Alain Graillot is a renowned winery located in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation of France’s Northern Rhône Valley. Established in 1985 by Alain Graillot, the estate quickly earned a reputation for producing outstanding Syrah-based wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. The winery cultivates approximately 22 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with Syrah for red wines, and about 3 hectares dedicated to Marsanne and Roussanne for whites. These vineyards sit on well-draining, alluvial soils composed of sand, gravel, and stones, notably in areas such as Les Chassis and Les Sept Chemins.
Committed to sustainable viticulture, the Graillot family follows organic farming practices. This includes hand-harvesting grapes and plowing the soil to encourage deep root development. In the winery, the approach is minimalist: red wines are typically fermented using whole clusters in lined concrete vats and then aged in used oak barrels from top Burgundy domaines. This method helps maintain the purity of the fruit while adding complexity and finesse.
