The Rieslingfreak No.7 Clare Valley Fortified Riesling NV is a distinctive fortified Riesling from the Hughes family’s White Hutt vineyard in Clare Valley. Made in a light "white port" style, it shows sultana, caramel and butterscotch with orange peel, dried stone fruit, vanilla and savoury nutty oak.
On the palate, it is rich and luscious with sweet citrus, orange and dried fruit balanced by Riesling’s natural acidity. The wine is partially fermented before fortification, then matured in old oak casks, developing layers of caramel, spice and subtle nuttiness. At around 18% alcohol and approximately 100g/L residual sugar, it finishes long and warming with citrus-pith freshness balancing the sweetness.
