The Henri Dosnon Brut Sélection NV is a superb grower Champagne from the Côte des Bar, a region increasingly recognised for producing some of Champagne’s most characterful wines. Crafted by Champagne Dosnon, this cuvée is sourced primarily from old-vine Pinot Noir grown on Kimmeridgian limestone soils similar to those found in nearby Chablis. Extended lees ageing and a low-intervention philosophy result in a Champagne that combines richness, precision and remarkable terroir expression.
The nose reveals green apple, lemon zest and white peach alongside notes of brioche, toasted almond and subtle chalky minerality. The palate is vibrant and finely textured, with persistent bubbles carrying flavours of citrus, orchard fruit and fresh pastry. Layers of roasted nuts, saline minerality and delicate spice add complexity, while the finish is long, dry and beautifully focused. The high proportion of Pinot Noir gives the wine both depth and structure without sacrificing elegance.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A wonderfully expressive grower Champagne that offers exceptional value and personality. Fresh, complex and highly versatile, it pairs beautifully with oysters, scallops, sushi, smoked salmon and soft cheeses. Enjoy as an aperitif or alongside fine seafood, and drink over the next 3–5 years while its freshness and complexity are at their peak.
