The 2025 Garagiste Tuerong Chardonnay is a single-vineyard Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay from Barnaby Flanders, sourced from dry-grown, north-facing vines planted in the late 1980s on grey-black sandy soils over sandy loam. It opens with struck-match complexity before revealing citrus, white peach, florals and saline notes, supported by subtle lees character.
The fruit is hand harvested and whole-bunch pressed, then fermented in second- and third-fill 500-litre puncheons. Nine months on full lees without bâtonnage builds texture while preserving freshness. The palate is fleshy yet precise, with mouthwatering acidity, fine phenolic grip and a long, energetic finish. Campbell Mattinson awarded it 94+ points.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Chardonnay lovers who enjoy texture and depth balanced by cool-climate freshness and mineral drive. Enjoy now or cellar over the next 5–8 years. Ideal with grilled scallops, roast chicken, barramundi, lobster, creamy mushroom dishes or roast pork.
