The 2025 Garagiste Balnarring Pinot Noir is a single-site Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir from Barnaby Flanders. The Balnarring vineyard’s MV6 Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1996 on brown-grey loamy soils, producing a darker, more structured expression of Mornington Pinot. The 2025 offers cherry and plum fruit, spice, mineral notes and smoky, savoury complexity.
On the palate, it has generous fruit depth balanced by fresh acidity and fine-grained, silky tannins, with savoury notes of woodsmoke and spice carrying through a particularly long finish. The 2025 received 95 points from Campbell Mattinson, highlighting the quality and persistence of this small-production release.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for those who enjoy Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir with darker fruit, fine tannins and a distinctly savoury edge. Enjoy now with some air or cellar over the next 5–8 years. Ideal with roast duck, lamb, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto or chargrilled pork.
