The 2024 Man O’ War Valhalla Chardonnay is a distinctive Chardonnay from coastal and elevated vineyard blocks across Waiheke Island, New Zealand. The nose is focused and mineral-driven, showing white grapefruit, lemon pith and grilled peach alongside orchard blossom, subtle struck-match notes and a distinctive crushed-seashell character.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet precise, with citrus and green stone fruit supported by firm, vibrant acidity and a long saline finish. The hand-picked fruit was naturally fermented in French oak puncheons, with approximately 25% new oak, before 11 months in barrel. No malolactic fermentation or lees stirring was used, preserving freshness, tension and a finely chiselled texture.
