The 2024 Lodali Nebbiolo d’Alba is a fragrant, elegant 100% Nebbiolo from Piedmont, sourced exclusively from vineyards in Pocapaglia, in the Roero hills. Based in Treiso, Lodali produces a range of wines that explore the character of Piedmont’s native grapes, with this bottling offering a particularly approachable expression of Nebbiolo. The sandy soils of Roero contribute to its lighter, aromatic style. The estate’s winemaking approach involves hand harvesting, temperature-controlled maceration for approximately 12–15 days, and maturation in concrete tanks, followed by three months in bottle. This allows the grape’s delicate perfume and fresh fruit to take centre stage.
The 2024 is characterised by bright red berries, rhubarb and delicate floral notes, with a juicy, refreshing palate. Expect a fragrant red with the freshness and gently drying structure that make Nebbiolo such a natural partner for food. Its relatively light colour is characteristic of the variety and gives little indication of its flavour or persistence. The emphasis here is on aromatic finesse, lively fruit and balance, with concrete maturation supporting a clear expression of the grape. It is an appealing style for drinkers who enjoy reds with perfume, savoury interest and enough structure to develop alongside a meal.
