The 2024 Immich-Batterieberg Enkircher Batterieberg Riesling is the flagship dry Riesling from the historic Immich-Batterieberg estate in the Mosel, sourced exclusively from the estate's monopole Enkircher Batterieberg vineyard. This remarkable, steep, south-facing site is characterised by grey slate with an unusually high quartzite content, producing Rieslings of immense concentration, precision and longevity. Farmed organically by Gernot Kollmann, the grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured on full lees in traditional oak casks, allowing the vineyard's remarkable character to shine. The nose is intensely complex, revealing Amalfi lemon, white peach and mint layered with wet slate, citrus blossom and flinty mineral notes. The 2024 vintage was awarded 97 points by James Suckling.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with crystalline acidity, exceptional concentration and a powerful mineral core. Layers of citrus, ripe stone fruit and preserved lemon are framed by striking saline tension and remarkable precision, leading to an extraordinarily long, focused finish. Deep, structured and uncompromisingly dry, this is a benchmark Mosel Riesling with the balance and complexity to reward decades of cellaring.
