The 2024 Chalmers Falanghina is a vibrant and distinctive white wine from Heathcote, showcasing one of the Italian varieties that the Chalmers family has championed in Australia. Made from the Falanghina Beneventana clone grown on the estate's rocky, elevated vineyard site, it offers lifted aromas of lime zest, citrus blossom and orchard fruit, alongside hints of river mint, white flowers and subtle mineral notes. The wine highlights the variety's natural freshness and aromatic appeal.
On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with bright acidity and a lively, textural mouthfeel. Flavours of lemon, lime, green apple and white stone fruit are supported by a distinct mineral edge and gentle chalky texture. Wild fermentation and time on fine lees add depth without diminishing the wine's freshness, leading to a crisp, tangy finish with impressive length and balance.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is a fantastic choice for those who enjoy aromatic, mineral-driven whites with plenty of freshness and food-friendly acidity. Similar in spirit to Riesling but with a little more texture and fruit weight, it is best enjoyed over the next 3–5 years. Pair with grilled seafood, Vietnamese noodle salads, Thai-inspired dishes, gyoza or fresh goat's cheese.
